Types of Digital Nomad Visa in Czechia
Digital Nomad Visa as a Freelancer
The applicant will need to apply for a trade license and will receive a visa over 90 days for the purpose of performing business activities in Czechia with a validity of 1 year. The trade license will be the main purposes of stay of the Digital Nomad. Family members can also be included in the digital nomad program.
Prior approval of the application is required from the Ministry of Trade to
provide proof of visa/residence in the Czech Republic
Future contract agreement for the providing of IT services, or affidavit from
the digital nomad´s client to confirm secured work and finances.

Digital Nomad Visa as an Employee of a foreign company
The applicant receives a long-term visa with a validity of 1 year. The company for which the applicant works remotely must have at least 50 employees.
Certain documents proving the existence of the company will be required from the Czech authorities such as Business register confirmation, Employer’s affidavit that the foreign employer has worldwide at least 50 employees, Employment contract, Proof of education or confirmation of experience in IT (at least 3 years).

New legislation established by the Czech government in July 2023 has smoothened the conditions for
non-EU remote workers and freelancers and their family members to legally reside in Czechia. This
program is targeting mainly IT specialist who can work remotely.
Citizens of Australia, Japan, Canada, South Korea, New Zealand, Great Britain, USA or Taiwan can
qualify for this visa category.
There are two type of the Digital Nomad Visa – you can either apply as an Employee of a foreign
company which employs globally at least 50 employees OR as a Freelancer which means that you
must obtain a Trade license in Czechia prior to applying for a visa.
In both cases you must prove that you have at least 3 years of experience in IT field and that your
income is at least 1,5 times the average gross annual salary in Czechia.
The application for the visa must be submitted at the Czech embassy abroad. It usually takes 90 days
to receive decision on the application.
